Hampton Inn & Suites – Pittsboro-Research Triangle Area, NC

AK Design Group provided full interior design and FF&E procurement services for Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Pittsboro, NC – a 120-room, five-story upper-midscale hotel located in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill Research Triangle area and the first business hotel in Chatham County. The project presented an opportunity that both the ownership and the Hampton brand embraced: a property deeply rooted in its local community. Working in collaboration with the Chatham Arts Council, AKDG sourced works from regional artists – including a two-story lobby pottery wall featuring the work of acclaimed local artist Mark Hewitt. Localized art installations carry through stairwells, a dedicated second-floor rotating gallery, and guest rooms throughout.

 

AKDG managed FF&E procurement directly with artists and manufacturers. Among the project’s most distinctive material selections: 100+ year-old wood flooring reclaimed from a Kentucky barn and specified throughout the hotel. The completed property opened in November 2024 and earned the Triangle Business Journal Space Award for Top Hospitality/Entertainment Development in 2025 – reflecting the firm’s commitment to design that serves both brand standards and the community the property calls home.
