TownePlace Suites – Memphis/Germantown, TN

AK Design Group provided interior design services for TownePlace Suites by Marriott Memphis Germantown – a 111-suite, five-story extended-stay hotel and the sixth development phase of the Thornwood mixed-use community in Germantown, Tennessee. When the ownership’s vision called for a design that honored Germantown’s equestrian heritage and Thornwood’s architectural character, AKDG developed a lodge-inspired concept – a direction the client provided and the TownePlace Suites brand team supported. AKDG’s scope also included interior design for The Overland, a rooftop restaurant and bar which has since become a distinctive dining and social destination within the Germantown community.

 

Pre-planning for the project began in December 2019 and navigated pandemic-era delays and material cost fluctuations over a multi-year timeline, and without compromise to the original design vision. The property’s design submittals and model room execution earned recognition from the TownePlace Suites brand team during the Marriott review process. The completed property opened in 2024 and reflects the firm’s ability to meet brand standards while capturing local character, producing a result that feels authentically connected to Germantown.
